Before The Fall

Nicholas Ilechie / / 1 min read

Your shadow leaned into mine tonight,
a quiet gravity in failing light.
No words needed—just breath and skin,
two restless storms slowly drawing in.

Your fingers traced where silence spoke,
each touch a line we almost broke.
The air grew thick with hidden fire,
a slow surrender to rising desire.

Eyes locked deep where reason sleeps,
where every pulse its secret keeps.
Close enough to feel hearts bend,
where longing starts and walls all end.

And in that hush between each breath,
where time forgets its patient death,
we both knew what this would cost,
but chose to look the other way.

Two bodies paused on longing’s edge
one breath away from off the ledge.
