The Heart
Nicholas Ilechie / / 2 min read

The heart of a man is a world of its own.
A tricky and complex one.
We sometimes find it hard to understand the true content of our hearts, we find ourselves sometimes thinking evil yet do not wish for it.
Sometimes we desire good for others but find our heart joyful when evil happens to some, not because we are mindfully evil or desiring of it, but because it just happens, and we are left to question ourselves;
Why am I even happy about this?
There again, some just don't care!
Even we in Christ sometimes still find our hearts in a twist of fate, where the new man lusts after the old while striving to maintain the status quo.
Not because we are ignorant of the demise but simply due to the complexity of the nature of our hearts...
It's easy to say “Do not walk in the flesh”
It's easy to desire not to walk in the flesh…
It's also easy to think “I'm not walking in the flesh”
But many a time when we are thoroughly searched we are found wanting of the utterances we preach against;
Similarly why Apostle Paul said in the books of Corinthians “let every man who thinks he stands, to take heed, lest he falls”
But, thank God for Grace.
We must learn to always examine ourselves, our thoughts, and our desires to be sure we are walking in spirit and truth for the heart is deceitful and if not careful could lead one astray.
In like manner is the outward appearance of a man, deceptive in its beauty. They profess to love, peace, and kindness with their mouth but their heart is ugly and full of evil.
Only God truly understands and can search the heart of a man, only God sees it all, and only through the indwelling spirit of Christ can a heart truly be healed.
We must always pray for God to purify our hearts and minds regardless of the cost, for all we can do is fear God and keep His commandments to the best of our knowledge and the Truth we know.
